Wooden decorative plaque with pressed flowers and botanical elements.

Decorative plaques featuring pressed flowers gained popularity as a craft and decorative item, particularly from the mid-20th century onwards. This technique involves carefully drying and preserving botanical specimens, then arranging them within a frame or resin to create a lasting piece of art. These items were often handmade and reflected a growing appreciation for natural elements in home decor.

Such pieces can range from simple, rustic designs to more elaborate compositions. The style of the flowers and the wooden frame can offer clues to their origin and era. While not always considered high art, pressed flower art holds a certain charm and historical significance as a representation of domestic crafts and a connection to nature.
